J P Kenny in Perth are carrying out the FEED and detailed design scope for Woodside's Pluto field on the North West Shelf. The team comprises 45 engineers working to address some of the significant engineering challenges including one of the largest insulated flowlines to be installed and a 36+6 inch trunkline and piggyback system requiring stabilisation against cyclonic events.

Engineering techniques employed include 3D FE modelling of the entire system, to simulate the seabed, wave and current conditions. This allows an integrated approach to be taken the to the challenges of spanning, lateral buckling, upheaval buckling, thermal expansion, pipeline creep and pipeline stability that at one time were all considered individually.
