Members of WoodGroupKenny based in Aberdeen are planning a sponsored cycle challenge.
The plan is to ride from the J P Kenny office in Aberdeen to the MCSK office in
Galway. The distance is approximately 420 miles and shall be completed over 4 days
(27, 28, 29 and 30 August). Funds raised through sponsorship will be donated to
CLAN Cancer Support (www.clanhouse.org) and Down Syndrome Ireland (www.downsyndrome.ie).
Personnel from WoodGroupKenny are taking part in a cycle challenge which will see
a party of us travel from the J P Kenny office in Aberdeen to the MCS office in
Galway. This is a distance of approximately 420 miles.
We are raising money for good causes with links to Aberdeen and Gallway. The Aberdeen
charity is the Clan Cancer Support. Clan Cancer Support is an Aberdeen based organisation
supporting cancer patients and familes throughout the north of Scotland. More on
Clan Cancer Support can be found on their web page (www.clanhouse.org). The following
is a quotation from their site:
|
|
"CLAN is an independent charity for anyone affected by any type of cancer at any
time from diagnosis onwards. Whether affected personally, as a carer, family member
or close friend, our services are available to you. Based at CLAN House in Aberdeen,
we cover the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. Some of our services are available
to people living outside these areas, specifically CLAN Haven and the CLAN Holiday
Home"
The Galway charity is Down Syndrome Ireland. Their website is full of information
on the organisation, and can be found at www.downsyndrome.ie. From the website,
their goal is to "significantly improve the quality of life of persons with Down
syndrome, to ensure that each individual is developed to his/her full potential
and to help people with Down syndrome make their own futures as bright and independent
as possible."
To establish fundraising, 2 off separate websites have been established to gather
funds. These are
Just Giving : http://www.justgiving.com/WoodGroupKennyCycleChallenge, and
My Charity : http://www.mycharity.ie/event/michael_osullivan
Both of these sites managed the funds on behalf of the participants. Paper sponsorship
forms will also be distributed.
We hope that as part of supporting the team on bikes, that friends and colleagues
from throughout the WoodGroupKenny organisation can also support us by donating
to Clan Cancer Support and Down Syndrome Ireland as a worthy causes.
